Tenor Miles Jenkins is an emerging artist who has begun accumulating quite a few regional credits. In his young career, he has performed opera, concert works, and musical theater across the southern United States. His past performances include the likes of the title role in Bernstein’s Candide, the tenor soloist in Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, and Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore where he was praised by Arts Knoxville saying he, “...impressively captured the spirit of the naïve Nemorino.”

 

Most recently, Miles made his North Carolina debut as Frederic in The Pirates of Penzance with the Durham Savoyards and performed Frederic a second time as a guest artist with students of the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Before this, he had the privilege of making his concert debut with the University of Tennessee Symphony Orchestra as the a tenor soloist in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy. Miles is a graduate of the University of Tennessee – Knoxville where he received his Master of Music degree in vocal performance and was also an active member of the Knoxville Opera Studio.

 

As a young artist, Miles has performed Bernstein's Mass as a street singer with the Brevard Music Center Orchestra conducted by Maestro Keith Lockhart. He attended "Sì parla, sì canta" in Arona, Italy, with Maestro Benton Hess to sing Gherardo in Gianni Schicchi. He was a member of the Asheville Lyric Opera Young Artist Program. He attended the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s Opera Boot Camp to sing the role of Gastone in La traviata, and also attended the Montgomery Symphony’s Van Vocal Institute to work with tenors David Cangelosi and Clifton Forbis.

 

Miles's operatic roles include Belfiore in La finta giardiniera and Remendado in Carmen with the University of Tennessee Opera Theatre as well as Elvino in La sonnambula, Ferrando in Così fan tutte, and Tamino in The Magic Flute with the University of Montevallo Opera Theatre. He has also accumulated several partial roles performing scenes from operas including Falstaff, Turandot, La traviata, Rigoletto, Don Giovanni,  Lucia di Lammermoor, and more.

 

Miles is a graduate of the University of Montevallo in Alabama where he received his Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance and music education. He is a native of Birmingham, Alabama.
